PART 2 - On a mission to find the best Brand of Coconut water in London

If you haven't already read my first post about coconut water, I advise you to do so!

My previous post provides key information about coconut water such as where it grows, the taste and its health benefits.

For those of you who did read it you will remember that I reviewed 2 brands of coconut water which were gross FOCO (trust me it was bad) and drinkable ASDA.

On my grocery shop last week I found another brand called UFC (no, this does not stand for Ultimate Fighting Championship). It is a coconut water brand that comes from Bangkok, Thailand.

This is by far the best coconut water I have found so far, it tastes just like the coconut water from a green coconut! I enjoyed it so much I pretty much finished it within the same day!!

I bought it from ASDA. You can also buy it from TESCO.

Here is the review.

UFC

PRICE: £2.50

CLOSENESS TO FRESH COCONUT WATER: 9/10

OVERALL RATING: 9/10

NO NEGATIVES!!

POSITIVES:

  • ACCEPTABLE PRICE - EXCELLENT QUALITY OF COCONUT WATER!!!
  • NO ADDED SUGAR & STILL NATURALLY SWEET - PERFECT!
  • TASTES JUST LIKE A GREEN COCONUT!
  • CLEAR, THIN & SMOOTH CONSISTENCY
  • REFRESHING
  • DECENT REFRIGERATION LIFE - ONCE OPENED MUST BE CONSUMED WITHIN 3 DAYS, IT TASTES SO GOOD I CAN FINISH IT IN 1 DAY!
  • 100% NATURAL COCONUT WATER - HOW UFC MANAGED TO DO THIS IS BEYOND ME!!!
  • NO ADDED COLOURS OR FLAVOURS OR PRESERVATIVES
  • ONLY NEEDS TO BE REFRIGERATED WHEN OPENED - THIS IS GREAT FOR ME AS MY FRIDGE GETS PACKED UP QUITE QUICKLY BECAUSE IT IS SMALL SO I CAN STORE THIS IN THE CUPBOARD UNTIL I AM READY TO DRINK IT.
  • AVERAGE DESIGN ON CARTON - I THINK THE FONT CHOICE & COLOUR IS SLIGHTLY ODD
  • HALAL CERTIFIED - CAN BE SEEN IN THE IMAGE BELOW

I strongly recommend buying UFC brand coconut water, especially if this is the first time you are tasting coconut water, as it tastes exactly like a young green coconut.

If you cannot get your hands on UFC then here is another coconut brand that deserves 2nd place.

GRACE

PRICE: £2-£3

CLOSENESS TO FRESH COCONUT WATER: 7/10

OVERALL RATING: 7/10

NEGATIVES:
  • SLIGHT AFTER-TASTE IF YOU DRINK THE 2ND DAY OF OPENING - STILL TASTES THE SAME AND STILL FINE TO DRINK.
  • BEST SERVED FROM CHILLED - I DON'T LIKE COLD DRINKS SO DRINKING IT STRAIGHT FROM THE FRIDGE IS NOT GREAT BUT YOU GET THE BEST TASTE.

POSITIVES:
  • TASTES LIKE COCONUT WATER
  • REASONABLE PRICE GOOD QUALITY
  • CLEAR, THIN & SMOOTH CONSISTENCY
  • REFRESHING - NICE SUBSTITUTE TO WATER
  • VEGETARIAN
  • KOSHER
  • GLUTEN & DAIRY FREE
  • 100% COCONUT WATER
  • NO ADDED SUGAR
  • ONLY NEEDS TO BE REFRIGERATED WHEN OPENED
  • NOT FROM CONCENTRATE - COCONUT WATER COMES DIRECTLY FROM THE COCONUT
  • NOT TOO SWEET - SOME PREFER WATERY DRINKS
  • COLOURFUL & ATTRACTIVE CARTON DESIGN

Most supermarks stock this so you can get it from Sainsburys, ASDA, Morrisons and TESCO.

Grace also sell coconut water in a can with or without pulp. I have tried both but I don't want to bore you so I'll only give a brief description of without pulp.

  • It is produced in Thailand.
  • Not pure coconut water
  • Contains added sugar! - Huge deterrence factor for me!
  • Does not taste like the carton coconut water, Grace carton is better!
  • Pretty expensive, 1 @ 95p but when it's on offer it goes down to 60p.
  • Closeness to fresh coconut water: 5/10
  • Must be consumed within 24 hours.
  • No bits!

Here are the nutritional information and ingredients in English and French, Netherlands, Dutch and Español.

**Grace is a well-known Caribbean brand founded in Kingston, Jamaica that has a huge range of other products such as aloe vera juice, plantain chips, as well as coconut milk and coconut oil.

I hope you enjoyed this little update about coconut water.

I was desperate to tell you about my brilliant discovery of the UFC Coconut water.

I doubt any brand can top UFC, therefore, my hunt for coconut water is over... Unless UFC decide to stop producing it, but hopefully they will not!
